About

My Approach

I am a musicianer. I approach music spiritually and treat it with great care, reverence, and deep respect. I use it to build community, to support human learning and explore human expression, to recover from and/or ease life’s trials, to entertain, to soothe, to educate, and to test and explore my own artistic, expressive boundaries.

I strongly believe that music does not belong solely to the virtuoso, the pop star, or the educated, professional musician. Each of us has the right to it; each of us has an equally valid ability with music. Our culture around music may not agree or misguide us away from this notion, but individually and communally, music is a beautiful means to share our thoughts and feelings through whatever means with whatever quality is available. I love to hear and feel that deep beauty from anyone willing to share it with me.

My Career

I’ve been based in Austin, TX, playing music professionally for twenty years. Through that time, I’ve spent a lot of time educating interested parties (individuals and groups), drawing out of them their innate musicality and helping them discover their expression through string bass and ukulele (and a few other odds and ends).
